Teaching is the most influential job in the world. Teachers are like our friend, anchor, and guide who shape our lives and have a deep impact on our actions. They are intelligent, smart, hardworking, and inspiring who always make learning creative and easy. Teachers are the people who never give up on their students and put tireless efforts to help them overcome their shortcomings. Even when we move forward in our lives, teachers continue to hold a special place in our hearts. Every year, a day is dedicated to honor and celebrate teachers around the globe, which is known as Teacher’s Day. The dates may vary in different countries but the objective of celebrations is the same. It allows students to show their love, respect, and gratitude for the hard work and efforts of teachers. United States of America National Teacher’s Day also referred to as Teacher Appreciation Day in the USA is always celebrated on the Tuesday of the first week of May. This day is celebrated annually to honor and appreciate teachers and recognize their contributions to the education system, society, and lives of people. On this special day, students buy gifts and make thank you cards for their teachers. Several cultural events are held in schools across the country to mark this day. Singapore Teacher’s Day in Singapore is celebrated on the last Friday of term 3, which will be marked on 6th September in 2019. Education in Singapore is ranked as one of the best in the world that shows the dedication of teachers and students. This day is an official day off at schools in Singapore but the celebrations are organized the day before. The students participate in events and put on performances to honor their teachers and make them feel valued and respected. They present them with thoughtful Teacher’s Day gifts to express gratitude and appreciation for their dedication and hard work. India In India, Teacher’s Day is celebrated on 5th September every year on the occasion of the birth anniversary of India’s second president, Dr. Radhakrishnan. This day is celebrated with great fun and fervour in schools for which the preparations start well in advance. The celebrations of this day signify the importance of teachers in our lives who pass on their knowledge to students and assist in building a better world for them. Thailand Teacher’s Day in Thailand is celebrated every year on 16th January. On this occasion, students bow down to their teachers and present them with flowers, candles, and incense sticks in a container as a token of love and respect. It is usually a non-working day for teachers but some international schools remain open where students give performances to recognize and honor teachers for passing on their knowledge and wisdom to them. China In China, Teacher’s Day is celebrated on 10th September every year. This day recognizes the effort and contribution of China’s educators and allows students to express gratitude and respect for their teachers. The festival events and award ceremonies are held in China on this special day. In schools, students give gifts and flowers to their teachers as a token of gratitude for their hard work. Students bow to their teachers as a symbol of respect and in return, teachers brush a red dot on student’s forehead to convey best wishes to them. Teacher’s Day also commemorates the trusted relationship between teachers and students and strengthens it further.
