To answer this question, we need a time machine to take us back to the year 1864 (just kidding). However, we do have to go back in time to study Anna Jarvis- the mastermind of Mother\u2019s Day.<\/p>\n<p>Anna Jarvis was born in 1864 and grew to become an activist. She is known as the inventor of Mother\u2019s Day because of her efforts to honour her mother- Ann Jarvis. Ann spent most of her life building awareness about the low infant mortality rate. She aimed to increase the rate and educate mothers on preventive steps.<\/p>\n<p>After the passing of Ann in 1905, Anna wanted to honour her efforts nobly, that\u2019s when National Mother\u2019s Day came into being. In 1908 on May 10, she hosted the first Mother\u2019s Day function in Grafton, West Virginia (her hometown).<\/p>\n<p>Soon, the President of the United States- Woodrow Wilson, caught wind of Ann\u2019s societal contribution and Anna\u2019s efforts to celebrate Mother\u2019s Day. In 1914, they decided to make it a national holiday to be held on the second Sunday of May.<\/p>\n<p>However, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fnp.sg\/article\/how-is-mothers-day-celebrated\">idea of Mother&#8217;s Day celebrations<\/a> has changed over the years, with gifting and pampering sessions.
