We all know that money plants can’t make a sound when they need our help! This is why they are designed to change their physical appearance. One of the ways through which these greens show the need for attention is by changing the colour of their leaves. From brown and yellow to green, all shades have their own meaning. But since not everyone is aware of their colour codes, they often end up making the situation unfavourable for the plants. So, to keep the money plants green and gorgeous, we have mentioned some points below that will assist you well.
While the yellowing of plant leaves can point to unhealthy growth, it can also be a sign of a healthy one! During the growing season, the money plants transfer their nutrients to the new leaves, which can lead to the yellowing of the unwanted ones. So, if the lower side of the leaves changes their colour while the upper portion is budding new leaves, then don’t worry. It’s nature’s way of self-pruning.
Money plant leaves often turns yellow and brown when they are too dry. Not only the soil, but the environment of the plant lacks moisture which can then cause dehydration. This is very common during the summer season or in places with very hot temperatures. To make it right, use a humidifier and check the soil for any dryness and cracks.
Like Jadu (Koi Mil Gaya), the money plant also needs a sunbath to regain its energy. So, when they are kept in dark spaces with no sunlight, they turn their leaves yellow as a sign. Now, to avoid such things, one can keep the money plant planted on the sunny side of the home. However, if they are yellow even under sunlight, try changing their location.
We all love our money plants and don’t want them to fall sick! The fear of plant decay often makes the caretaker coddle and nourish the plant more than necessary. Too much sun time, water and fertilisers often lead to the overbearing of the plants, leading their leaves to turn yellow. So, make sure not to spoil the plant with love and just give them the amount of care they need.
Insects and pests like aphids, mealybugs and spider mites like to feast on the leaves of the money plant. They suck up the healthy sap and leave the leaves lifeless and yellow. Thus, it is a good idea to keep an eye on the bottom of the leaves and the unusual spaces between the branches. If the plant is already infected, then carefully prune the infected part and coat the rest of the leaves with appropriate fertilisers.
